</div> Vocational rehabilitation services for the blind and visually impaired are provided by the National Insurance Institute in conjunction with the Blind Services Department.

Who is Eligible?

  • People who are blind or visually impaired above the age of 18 for whom medical disability has been established to be at least 20%.

How to Claim It?

  • Those who are interested should contact the social services office in their place of residence or directly contact a senior blind placement coordinator who will coordinate between the applicant and the National Insurance Institute.
  • The blind placement coordinator will fill out a report detailing the vocational rehabilitation plan and the applicant's background, and will send it to a rehabilitation clerk at the National Insurance Institute.
  • Applicants may also contact the Rehabilitation Department in their nearest National Insurance Institute branch directly and submit a vocational rehabilitation claim. For more information, see: Vocational Rehabilitation and Educational Assistance for People with Disability.
  • The rehabilitation clerk will make a decision regarding the request for eligibility for rehabilitation and costs, and the decision will be sent to the Blind Services Department's regional placement coordinator or directly to the applicant, according to the request.
