A pregnant woman who miscarried is entitled to have the dead fetus removed from her womb within 3 days from when the loss was discovered
A woman who experienced pregnancy loss is entitled to emotional support from her health plan

Hospitals are obligated to remove the dead fetus from a woman as quickly as possible; at most within 3 days from when the loss was discovered.

Who is Eligible?

  • A pregnant woman who has been diagnosed to have a pregnancy loss.
  • The pregnancy loss is confirmed by a gynecologist and ultrasound technician.
  • The woman must have someone with her when she is informed about the pregnancy loss. If she doesn't have someone with her then a hospital psychologist or social worker must be present.
  • The hospital is obligated to inform the woman and her family about relevant burial procedures and - if she wants - to arrange a psychological consult for the mother.

How to Claim It?

  • The right is given automatically.
  • During the period of time between the diagnosis of loss and the removal of the fetus, the woman will receive guidance from her health plan for women who experienced loss of pregnancy in order to provides outlets and resources for mental and emotional support.
  • If necessary, a complaint can be filed with the Ministry of Health Public Inquiries Department.
