Children from the birth through 18 and 3 months, receiving chemotherapy by infusion or radiation treatment, are eligible for a disabled child benefit.
- Beginning in August 2016 the benefit entitlement was expanded and children from birth are entitled to a benefit of 188% during the treatment period and for a month after.
- After the above period, children are eligible for an additional 5 months of a benefit of 100%. This benefit may be extended beyond the 5 months if the child suffers from a prolonged, regular and severe illness caused by the treatment.
- Additionally, children from age 3 may be eligible for a benefit of 188% after they complete treatment (and beyond one month of finishing) if they are found to be completely dependent on others in order to perform daily functions, based on the dependency test (relevant for children age 3 and above).
- If updated and detailed documents are provided with the benefit claim, eligibility for the benefit can be determined based on documentation alone, without requiring the child to appear before a medical committee.

Who is Eligible?
- A child from birth through age 18 and 3 months who is receiving chemotherapy through infusion or radiation because of a malignant growth.
- Additionally, general conditions of eligibility must also be met (see the additional conditions of eligibility section on the general disabled child benefit page).
- Before Submitting a Disabled Child Benefit Claim you should prepare all relevant tests and documentation.
- Before submitting a claim or appearing in front of a medical committee you can get free guidance at the Yad Mechavenet centers that are run on behalf of the National Insurance Institute.
- Updated medical document regarding the medical and functional condition of the child, including the medical history, type of treatment provided and its frequency.
- A report from follow-up at specialist clinics, and a detailed description of the planned treatment plan.
- For a child on a respirator - a diagnosis from the treating doctor that includes an indication of respiration, a details on the type of machine and date regular respiration began.
- Additionally the claim form should indicate if the child intends to attend a rehabilitation daycare center.

Benefit payment and receiving retroactive payment
- One who has been approved to receive the benefit will be paid from the month in which she submitted the claim.
- The benefit is transferred to the recipient's bank account on the 28th of each month.
- If, according to the medical documents that were submitted, the benefit conditions existed prior to when the person filed the claim, retroactive payment may be made up to one year before the claim was filed.
- Retroactive payment is not automatically granted and should be requested together with the main claim.
- The Disabled Child Benefit at the rate of 100% is 2,600 NIS (this amount includes the supplement amount of 378 NIS), correct as of 2019.
- The Disabled Child Benefit at the rate of 188% is 4,757 NIS (this amount includes the supplement amount of 580 NIS), correct as of 2019. (The supplement was raised retroactively from January 2018).
Families with two or more disabled children
- Families with two or more children entitled to the disabled child benefit are entitled to an increased benefit amount for each of the children.
- The addition for each child is an additional 50% of entitled amount established for the child.
- The child that is entitled to a benefit of 100% will receive an increased benefit of 150%.
- The child that is entitled to a benefit of 50% will receive an increased rate of 75%.
- Families with two children with disabilities who only receive a Disabled Child Benefit for one of them are entitled to an increased benefit amount if the child for which they are not receiving the benefit is not eligible for it due to one of the following reasons:
- S/he lives in an institution or other facility outside the home.
- S/he is over the age of 18 and received a Disabled Child Benefit before reaching the age of 18.
- Families where two children are eligible for a Disabled Child Benefit or where one child is eligible for a Disabled Child Benefit and the second is eligible for a Mobility Benefit may be entitled to both a Disabled Child Benefit and a Mobility Benefit for each of the children in accordance with each benefit's conditions of eligibility.
- A calculator on the National Insurance Institute website can be used to check eligibility to receive two benefits simultaneously.
- A child up to age 3 who is eligible for a Disabled Child Benefit may be admitted to a Rehabilitative Daycare Centers.
- According to the law, it is illegal to seize a Disabled Child Benefit. If there is a hold on a bank account, you must contact the executing offices and obtain confirmation of specific removal of the hold for Disabled Child Benefit funds and then submit it to the appropriate parties (bank, etc.).
- The National Insurance Institute sends a Certificate of Disability to anyone eligible for a Disabled Child Benefit.
